Anyone using 1/2 stop exposure increments instead of the default 1/3?

It hit me today I haven't really played around with 1/2 stop increments of exposure instead of the default 1/3 at all. I've only used the default setting but with ISO I only use full stops since it is a lot faster to change the ISO that way and I don't want to use the pushed settings like 125, 250 by accident which I sometimes do on my 5Dc where you can't use full stops.

Sometimes I find I have to twiddle the dials a lot when in manual but it has never struck me to try out 1/2 stop increments. It would e faster to change settings by just using 1/2 stop increments.

Does anyone use this on a daily basis? Or least have tested it out thoroughly?

A good (and humorous) discussion here...http://cornicello.com …es-8-and-12-equal-95.html (external link).

Most of the newer Canon bodies actually look to do better if you run the 1/3 stop setting and always choose the one lower than the perfect squares. I discovered this site today... Select your body in this chart:

Note that at the bottom it states that this is not for camera comparison. Use it to help pick an ISO setting though...

For instance, it's interesting how the 1D3 does better right on the perfect squares, but he 5D3 does better 1/3 below each perfect square: http://home.comcast.net …,EOS%205D%20Mark%20III_14 (external link)

Other interesting data analysis on the main page: http://home.comcast.net/~nikond70/ (external link)

I tried that once. I confused myself because I am in the habit of counting soft-stops. One click = one third stop. I have to WATCH what I am doing when using half stops.

I used to be at 1/3 stop and also changed to full stop. Images still look good and it takes less clicks to adjust the settings when in manual mode. Just my choice!

I use full stops of ISO. This is with 7D and 5DII, primarily...

I used to use 1/3 stops ISO with 30D because for the lowest noise those cameras were better used on the 2/3 stop ISO settings ... and that's not the case with the newer models.

Because I use full stops of ISO, I stick with 1/3 stops of shutter speed and aperture in order to have as much fine control of exposure as possible.

I use half-stops for shutter speed when shooting sports, since it allows me to quicker change for action-freezing to panning shutter speeds.
I use full stops for ISO most of the time, since I care more about the content of the picture than some marginal noise improvements.
