You definately dont need a new camera, the 10D is a great one. You might want to pick up a new lens though or some accesories. How much memory do you have?

the 100-400 is a great lens and I'm sure would come in very handy, but you might also want to look at the 400mm 5.6L, a bit cheaper and much sharper IMO.

Which 70-200 do you have now? I might guess the f/4. I might be tempted to trade it in for the f/2.8 IS version. IS might come in handy for shooting from a ship and/or in lower light.

I'd agree that the 100400IS would be a very good choice. I strongly disagree that the 400f5.6 is "much sharper". I think for wildlife shooting in Alaska, you'll really appreciate the convenience and IS that the zoom will give you. Bring along a 1.4xTC too.

What do you plan on shooting? Some friends of mine went on a cruise in September and took a lot of landscape photos. Maybe a really nice wide angle prime? 10-22? Most of their shots were from the ship or a train and could have used a really nice wide angle.

You'll probably see a lot of bald eagles and other wildlife that a long lens would help with. A 100-400 sounds great. Look at the new 70 - 300 IS if you want to save some money.

Just realized I mentioned the 10-22, but forgot you have the 10D. Maybe something else then:D .

No need to upgrade the body. I have to agree with everything FstopJojo has said, the 100-400 would be a fantastic option for you. Go for it! :)
