I'm looking for a new monitor, but all the IPS ones have 7-8ms response time vs 2-3 for the TN panels. Since I also play a fair amount of video games with my computer, I'm trying to figure out if a the slower IPS monitor is going to ghost or cause motion issues. I don't want to trade one problem for another, you know?

I don't do any ACTION gaming (FPS, etc), but I do have my 360 hooked up to mine, and I don't see any issues at all. Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, etc all perform beautifully with all details cranked.

Thanks.

I primarily play FPS like BF3, Dishonored, Crysis 2, Metro 2033, etc. at 50-60fps.

My current TN panel is 5ms, so I'm thinking 5 vs 7 shouldn't be noticeable, but I thought I'd ask for experiences.

Yeah, you really *ought* to be fine. FWIW, I'm running the Dell U1311; I can throw up the vid card specs that are pushing it, once I get home if you want them for comparison, too.

I game on a 2711, I used to use a pair of crts which had zero lag. I can't tell ye difference, if you can tell the difference in response time you have an active imagination.

Solitaire.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Yes, I play BF3, NFS, SWTOR, and others on my dell 2410. Works fine if I do have lag its because of the internet connection or my computer :D.

Response time doesn't matter as much these days, especially since so many manufacturers fudge response times anyway. Keep an eye out for input lag, though, as many IPS panels do have higher input lag. It's rarely listed in the product stats, but 3rd party reviews usually cover it. So make sure you can find info on that before you buy. I play a lot of fighting games (i.e. where single-frame accuracy matters) on a Dell U2412M pretty happily. It's not zero lag, but it's extremely low (one frame or less).

I have my XBOX 360 hooked up to a u2711 via HDMI and it's brilliant.

Don't know what frame rate the XBOX puts out at but I have no difficulties at all.
