This is from the Pronghorn rut this past September. Several large wild fires in the area made for very smoky conditions, so much so that shooting the antelope at "normal" distances was not possible. So, I had to try to shoot them at close range - less smoke to cut thru.
One benefit of he smoke haze was that I could shoot all day long, for the smoke acted like a huge light diffuser that made even the harsh noonday sunlight nice and soft. Also, background distractions were "hazed out", enabling me to better isolate the subject.
