Dear Pekka,

As a Zenfolio user, I am (unfortunately) at their mercy in terms of available sizes for sharing.

I can go smaller than 1024X (800) or I can go slightly larger than 1024X (1100) but exactly 1024X is not an option. I have written to the powers that be at Zen asking about this but so far, my inquiries have fallen on deaf screens.

Therefore, I'm humbly asking you to allow 1100X as an acceptable sharing size so long as the images are linked and not uploaded. 1100X is not that much larger than 1024X and it would save people from having to double their work just to have a size that works here. In my case, I currently have nearly 2300 extra images uploaded to my site in order to meet the 1024X limit and frankly, I'm getting tired of having to do stuff twice.

I hope you'll give this some thought and allow those who prefer Zen to be able to participate here without the need to slaughter extra pixels.

Thank You for your time...

Jay

Pekka's looking at dynamic resizing of images to fit the browser requesting each page in the new software; with that, size limits should become unnecessary (although people who try to embed 45 MP images may find themselves getting "Ignored" :{)# ).

I second the proposition.
With improvement in user's monitor rez these days, then cheap availability of storage TBs, suggestion is good to be parallel with industry's improvements.
A single dimension for max picture size say 1100 along the longest axis or to be more futuristic 1200 with whatever the other axis is as long as it is equal or less than max file size of say 250 or whatever site feels comfortable with would bring enhancement to the site literally.

1100X shouldn't be excessive for to many people in this day and age.

Except "this day and age" sees more and more members visiting via tablets and smartphones.

Understood...

Maybe POTN needs an App then...

Personally, I still see my computer screen as more of a "projector" than a "loupe"

I prefer images large enough to appreciate without the need to have to "pinch & zoom"

With the dynamic resizing Jon mentioned Pekka has already taken mobile devices into consideration so I very much doubt that Pekka will spend time coding a dedicated app for mobile devices.
