I have been saving & waiting a long time for this lens.
I took it out briefly this afternoon but I was under dressed so I didn't stay long.
Hopfully I'll post some shots soon. The autofocus with my 1D4 is very fast.

Feb 14, 2013 22:59 | #8 I have had a play with the 500 F4 Mk2 and can definitely state that if the (500 mm) is your preferred focal length then you are going to be very happy! Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

Feb 14, 2013 23:23 | #9 I considered the 600, it was a hard choice. I think if I got the 600, I would not bring it with me as much. Plus the 500 is perfect for my back yard birds & critters. I plan to keep the 300 too. The weight and size of the 500mm is attractive but I feel I will always have a TC on it 99% of the time so that is why I am considering the 600mm. I see you have the 300mm too so I will be interested in your thoughts and review.

Feb 15, 2013 13:25 | #11 I had the extenders on my 300 most of the time as well. The 500 with the 1.4x results in a lot more keepers than my 300 with 2x.
