I'm in.

Any ideas or plans? Meeting spot & time?

Do we want to be out on the water when they're sailing in? Since it's a race, being on the water might be hit-or-miss. They could sail in at any time, one boat every few hours or something.

If they are sailing around, we could always jump on a tour boat out of Long or Rowes wharves. Or take a water taxi over to the Hyatt by the airport.

Otherwise, is it just a matter of strolling along Fan Pier and such?

Any idea of when they're leaving? If it's a race, they might all be heading at at a very specific time heading to the next stop. If so, that would be a great time to be on the water.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

looks like they are coming into Boston April 25th starting at 9am and the race will restart on May 16th. 9am-2pm it would prob be better to go on May 16th since all the boats will be there and will all sail off between 9am-2pm..

im down for anything but a boat would prob be best depending on security.

The Southwick Zoo opens this Saturday, April 11th and I can't wait to go and check it out. I will however avoid opening weekend and since I also have most of my days free I will wait until we get a nice day during the week to go and check it out.

Drop me a line when you plan a non-weekend visit. I might like to join you!

I live fairly close by and have not been there for 42 years! At that time I lived just a few miles from there and it was not much to see. It was kind of small and not that clean. We took our kids and my 2 year old, now 44, held on to the monkey cage and a monkey ran to the cage and bit her finger! Scared her, and us, half to death!

Over the years, the place has become very popular and I would love to go back. I find that anytime I go back to a place after many years, I cannot even orient myself to the memory locations.

We went to Napa valley last year which I had visited in 1976. I recalled visiting the BV winery while there. When I returned, the main building had been covered with ivy and it sat among many other wineries, homes and restaurants. The area had also become a semi urban area and was on an improved wide straight road, not the country lane I recalled.

Advice for any young photographers:

I was into photography then, but the concept of "Then and Now" photographs never occurred to me. Take advantage of this concept of recording places while you are young and a collection of value will be yours one day, when you make the sequel shots. They will AMAZE you!

May 16th sounds like a decent idea. Would be warmer and sunnier then too...count me in for that for now.

Don - Originally this coming week didn't look so good but now there are a few potential good days coming up. Looking at the forecast Tuesday looks to be nice, sunny and warm which are my requirements for a zoo visit. With this in mind I might venture to Southwick however I have a class that night so timing might be an issue for me.

Actually Friday has some potential as well.

Let me know if you are interested and I will keep you posted.

Meanwhile I went to the EcoTarium in Worcester on Thursday and back to Franklin Park on Friday. If anyone is interested in checking out the pics they are here.

I'm all for a Southwicks visit - my friend is the bird handler there.

But the kids would have to come with me if its during the week... and something tells me that might not work for you guys... considering my oldest is 3

Well the forecast for Friday keeps getting better and better so unless the weather completely changes I am up for going to the Southwick Zoo.

So far I have a few people that are interested in going with me and plan on leaving my house at about 11am.

I can't wait, this will be my first trip there ever :-)

Don / Anyone else that is interested I am planning on going to the Southwick Zoo this Friday as long as the forecast doesn't change drastically. I should be leaving my house at about 11am which would put me there around noon-ish and will spend the afternoon there.

I will have a friend of mine and my 75 year old mom so we will be putting around at a leisurely pace for sure.

This will be my first visit there ever so I can't wait to see what they have. I wish I still had my 500 f/4L :-(
