Heh, I'd like to see someone balance a few DSLRs on their head. You would need plenty of neck muscles!

Hi everyone,

First time poster in the Boston group. I'm a amateur/hobbyist photographer in the Brighton area that started out with Pentax and now have a 40D as it's companion.

is anyone headed out to Photoeast/photoplus in NYC? I've never been to this event and would like to find out how much time is needed to cover the show. I probably won't be attending any seminars just cheking out the latest gear.

Thanks,
ben

Syl Arena is doing a two day speed lighting workshop at the end of the month - anyone else going? I signed up for both days, but suspect day one will be a refresher / reminder ...

Ben, i'll be there. Thursday i'll be mostly at a Hasselblad event checking out August Bradley shoot (Dude is amazing). And on Friday i'll be in workshops. At some point on Friday i'll be at the show talking to some Elinchrom people.

Careful with your money on this one. $125. and you don't even shoot and practice yourself, i'd be reticent. Just my opinion.... i'm much more hands-on.

I had that reservation myself, but compared to workshops where you do shoot - $125 is quite reasonable, and I can't beat the location or the knowledge that will be flying around. I suspect in practice there will be a lot of knowledge sharing and such going on, which suits my learning style too.

Word. I'm thinking about getting Frank Doorhof (external link) back here next year, in a different format. And a limited number of seats. We'll see what happens. This year it was great, but we could make it much better for next year. It's one of those things where you have to run through it once and see what works and what doesn't. We'll see how it goes.

Yeah, he's a great guy and an awesome teacher. We'd have to change the format from last year, but i think with the right restrictions and better location, it could be great.

Wheels are spinning. :)

hhahaha
It wasn't to bad, I got the 13inch with 128g drive. I don't plan on doing any heavy or even moderate editing on it. My HP was on its last leg and I need something for school. My only minor regret is that I didn't get the 4gig RAM and its not expandable. But I don't think i'm going to miss the 2gig because the SSD frees up so much cache that its unnoticeable.

It came out to 1249+ tax with Student/Military $50 off
I also got the free EPSON all-in-one Wireless printer which is nice, since I was desperately in need of a school work printer. Printing papers with my Pixma 9000 MK II was overkill lol
