Why the hostility towards Verizon?

Well I was with Verizon waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy before they came into existence. One company buys another and is then bought by another and so forth. On my original contract I had an insurance plan for my phone that covered everything possible and whatever replaced it would only cost me $20. One of the clerks at one point even asked me why I didn't just smash my phone to get a new one instead of upgrading what I had every few years.

Long story short in about a ten year time span I only needed to use the policy twice. The second time I went to the store(which had been completely restaffed by workers from the Boston area I was later told) because of a broken screen and they refused to pull up my account and told me I would have to pay for a new phone. I'm not talking about the shelf price, I'm talking about an unlocked phone price. Apparently Verizon had changed it's CS policy making it more important to do ones nails than to actually do your job, I'm not kidding either she wouldn't even look at me but just kept telling me I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about. So I stiffed them for the five remaining months on my contract and started up with AT&T.

So much for keeping it short.

I got boned to such an extent by Verizon a few years back that I couldn't sit in a chair for a few months. In the end, they sent me a settlement check. I hate that company.

Oh wow... so that's what I have to look forward to... So far, they've been ok, but I've only been wit them since the end of May. Sprint was the same way, so that's why I left them.

I'm not eligible for subsidized, so I don't think I'll be upgrading anytime soon.

I don't know what you guys are doing to get boned... seriously. I've been with Verizon for over 8... 9? years now and I've never had any issues. AT ALL. No phantom billing, no charge-backs, great coverage and good devices that I've taken good care of.

I have never felt compelled to switch subscribers, and since I don't demand the latest/greatest technology I also enjoy the cheap monthly rates and inexpensive phones.

Not doing anything... Sprint was ok for a while, but it was the past few years that pissed me off. I had unlimited data/text plans, and I'd get a bill with a $400+ text charge, finding that somehow unlimited was removed. I call them, they fix it, then 2 months later it happens again, and again...

Promised replacement phones at no charge, then the phone arrives and I get a $350 bill that I can't get out of, even problems with ETF's when I left. I make sure to get everything in writing now. I called Verizon to check on iPhone prices, and I am grandfathered in to unlimited data, so I asked and they said it would carry over. So if I ever do upgrade to the 4S, I will get it IN WRITING that the unlimited carries over.

Oh, and what's more? I am being tasked with putting together a slideshow of his photos (right click/download......) for a meeting tonight.

Wow. Does your boss know you're a photographer?

Question for you all: I am going to pull the trigger on a 5D Mark 2 next week, and I have to do local cash, can't do online. Hunt's in Providence has one for $2,400, but was wondering if any of you know a cheaper place. There is a photo shop on Route 1 in Norwood but forgot the name.

Thanks.

By the way... I work for Verizon... will try to stay out of the conversation here. However, 20DNewbie, which company were you actually with? Doesn't sound like you were actually with Verizon, but the company got acquired instead. MCI?

I was with AT&T for a long time, but then they bought Cingular and changed the name to Cingular. I was charged fees, etc., just for continuing my contract with them. Then, Cingular changed back to AT&T. A couple of class action suits were filed during that time and settled.
How's that for customer service? =P

I'm waiting for the mkIII... who knows what the November announcement will be, but I'll wait nonetheless... even if it's until next year. It does seem like prices are dropping though. Too bad, won't make expensive purchases from brick and mortar stores... sorry, I know I'm putting local shops out of business. For what it's worth, Amazon lists it for $2,400 and I don't think you'll be charged tax. Otherwise, the Marketplace Section of the forum says go to Canada.

Yup. Knows quite well and his wife even asks me photography questions quite often. Also, some of my recent artwork is hanging in my "office" which he has complimented me on.

Maybe he expects you to do your regular job?

Wouldn't be able to afford the Mark III, and I hear that even if they announce it in November it won't be out on shelves till Feb. 2012 or so.

There are a few sites from Canada that have it for $2,000, but I can't do online right now, has to be local with cash.

Nathan - I work as a graphic designer and aid other departments by assembling marketing material and promotional items. I don't know how this can be any more specific to my job...

Ha! Sorry for my ignorance. So you boss just doesn't like you?

Anyway... putting together the slideshow could open up the company to some issues.
