Lighting for Green Screen

I'm setting up a green screen in my studio to do some videos for a client but I'll admit I'm less than experienced with video. Currently I've got 2 simple prop lights but thats about it. I primarily use strobes in my stills but obviously those aren't any good to me for video.

What lighting kit would you recommend I pick up for properly lighting a green scree? My budget is $400-600.

Thanks a Ton.

For green screen you want a broad even light with enough power to overcome any possible shadows presented by the person in front of it.

That requires a wide beamwidth and a good amount of power.

A lamp or two such as this would serve you well in that application.

Did you happen to notice the model in the shot appears to have green eyes?

That could make for some fun keying... ;-)a

The title fairy should pay you a visit and call you "Eagle-eyed". ;)

Thank you so much for the advice!

So here is what I've got planned and let me know if you think this will be appropriate-

Key light - http://www.bhphotovideo.com …luorescent_Light_Kit.html (external link)

Fill LIght - http://www.bhphotovideo.com …luorescent_Light_Kit.html (external link)

Background Light 2x mounted on the floor - http://www.bhphotovideo.com …Tungsten_Flood_Light.html (external link)

Hair light - Still looking for one. I was thinking of going the LED round and just mounting it to my ceiling (I have a low ceiling and I'm afraid a boom would interfere with filming and the LED's are small). If you have any thoughts on this please let me know.

So do you think this set up will work well for a green screen?

Since you have a low ceiling you may find two Tota's running 750 each may be a bit over the top, so what I would recommend you do is order a few 300 watt bulbs in addition to the 750's to give you an easy way to back down on power. Those bulbs are easy to change out (once cooled) by either wrapping the bulb in a clean paper towel or while wearing disposable cotton lab gloves, never bare hand them as skin oil can burn to the glass once they are turned on.

Also keep in mind, with CFL's you will have a warmup time of usually around 15-30 minutes before the bulbs will be are running at full brightness and their color temps will become stable.

And last but not least, always have a few spare bulbs, nothing creates an oh poop moment like turning on a lamp and be greeted by a flash or no light at all.
