This is a straight off. Colors adjusted in LR and i pulled off a couple of blems in PS. It really helps to have great ambient and be able to blend with a strobe or speedlight. BTW, This could not be done with a speedlight.

Real nice shot Mike. The one thing that I noticed and this could only be me who thinks this but I think her head should have been turned just a tad bit maybe only an inch more towards the camera. She kinda has a look as if she was a little hesitant to look at the camera.

I just got my first pair of glasses that I didn't think I needed. I apologize to anybody in the past year that I said their pictures were out of focus lol.

We had a terrible time with her hair and a slight breeze that was blowing. Her hair is instantly in her eyes on that one side. So Mom set it and jumped out of the way. Any movement and the hair fell in her face. It was a real PITA. I was lucky to get what i did. Talk about showing a to a session unprepared. Girls frequently do this with this style of hair. frustrating. Thats why we tilted as well.

I had the same problem my last shoot. We would snap a pic and fix the hair. On the beach makes it even worse. Here's a keeper from that shoot.

Thanks mike. No strobes yet just a canon 430 ex and a sun pak 383 shot through a 24" soft box.

Lets talk about hair-there are 2 tyrpes of hair issues I can think of.
In Mikes case hair that falls down.- Sue Bryce keeps those long skinny clips in her bag. I think if need be you cound fasten the bangs from underneith and high and then PS the clip end in that case? Shoot! even a bobby pin would do it.

and fly away little hairs that catch light- those drive me crazy. My former boss always have a small thing of unscented lotion and would put a little on her hands, run them together and then smooth the clients hair-it worked great. I normally keep some clear glyceryn for hair as well.

Anyone else have trick or tips to share?

So did my first senior shoot this weekend. I'd love some thoughts on the pictures and post.
This girl is 6'3", headed for KState on a full ride. Lots of fun!

Here's my latest. I figured I could kill two birds with one stone. A Senior and Sun Flare. I really didn't care for it myself but she liked it so I kept it.

Shot at 320 ISO, 1/250 at f4.0 and a 430 exii in an umbrella.

A friend of mine makes fun of me for using my beauty dish like a softbox outdoors. IDC because it's solid and soft!

since you asked....

I think your skin work looks good.
The ball shot is a good concept, but I bet Tiffany can tell you how to do it better and make her face the focus of the shot and not the ball.

last tip. As a general rule of thumb I NEVER EVER EVER shoot a female with body turned STRAIGHT ON to the camera, even just a little turn of the body would have taken those to the next level. That said, these are WAY better than my first attempt at seniors, I think you've got something :) keep it up.
