I have returned items to Amazon both for exchange and for refund. Never a restocking fee.

No restocking fee, you'll just get stuck covering return shipment cost.

Unless you open it and it has some type of issue... scuff, irratic focus, etc... in which case they will also cover the return shipping.

Never had any problem with amazon, they even cover return shipping cost by sending me prepaid label.

I bought a sandisk cf and 4mos. later it stopped working. I should've called sandisk for warranty but I called amazon instead. They ended up send me a brand new one with no cost and gave me prepaid label to ship the damaged one to them. Just an example how great amazon customer service is. Obviously, your case is totally different, but you get the point. There shouldn't be any restocking fee or shipping cost.

I just ordered the 24-70 yesterday. I hate canon's rebate and pricing policy.

People like U returning product that is nothing wrong with it becaused of price change , and new buyer get stuck with your used product and amazon shipped it as new. then they have to return it again trying to get a new product from amazon wasted so much times of it.

then amazon should offer some sort of price guarantee on $2000+ lenses or change their return policy.

I really hate the way canon does rebates. For instance the strategy goes like this...

Lens: $1400 on rebate $1500 regular
Rebate ends
Price increases from $1500 to $1650
Rebate begins
Price $1500 LOL and on and on and on.....

If you call and try a different rep, as some will give you a price adjustment within the 30-day return window.
