If you call and try a different rep, as some will give you a price adjustment within the 30-day return window.

that wrked, thx all! and to thinkharder - i didnt open n use it as i was thinking of returning it because the box it came in, the corner was slightly crushed in. the canon box was fine n the lens is packed in styrofoam so i think itll be ok (or thats what i keep telling myself.) i may go ahead and try it out now

I really hate the way canon does rebates. For instance the strategy goes like this...

Lens: $1400 on rebate $1500 regular
Rebate ends
Price increases from $1500 to $1650
Rebate begins
Price $1500 LOL and on and on and on.....

Totally agree

The rebate is currently being offered on the lens I am about to buy: Canon 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS. It's selling for $1399.00 at Adorama. Funny thing is, the same lens is available from Adorama as a bundle (with a filter that I'd never use, a lens cap keeper and a cleaning kit) for $60 less! I'm amazed and almost afraid to order it for fear it's a mis-print in the online ad. The ad for the less expensive lens also states that it includes a tripod collar, where the higher priced lens states the tripod collar is optional. I'm on hold now to see if what seems too good to be true really is.

Believe in your heart that something wonderful is about to happen.

That happens often with some retailers. pmi and beach almost always do this.
