Heya..

I've been asked by a friend to do some portraits of him with his new car..

Problem being I only have 1 speedlight.. When all of the portraits I've seen on here have been 2 or more..

Has anyone successfully done it with just 1?

I'm after some tips and to see some examples would also be really cool.. ( if there is any)

Thanks... :)

Who said you have to use a flash for car portraits? Find a good location and get there early enough to take advantage of early morning or evening light, watch the shadows etc. and go for it. ;)

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

Nice shot Bruce!

You can achieve the same effect of multiple flashes with one unit with the use of multiple exposures and blend them together in post. It will take a bit more time but it works, many photographers do it.

You have three choices. Make him look great. Make the car look great. Make them both look great.
See the links in my Sig, and think about using the flash to just apply a touch of fill if you need it.

And this thread has to be moved to "T Talk" because you aren't sharing images.

Here's a sample of single flash with multiple exposure.

If you don't have photoshop have a look at GIMP and look at this http://www.danielveazey.com/gimp/gimp-layer-mask/ (external link) guide.

Having a single flash unit makes you think more and alot fun IMO. :D
