another raw question

Sorry to kind of repeat the previous raw question, but I am at a similar but different place.

I have pse3 and have downloaded the correct version of acr and adobe dng convertor and have managed to use them. My problem is, everytime I try to open a dng file in pse, it opens in the raw window. How in the world do I change the dng files to jpeg so I can further edit??

Well of course dng opens in the raw window, since dng is a raw file format. Once you've opened the dng and gotten it into photoshop use the file -> save as command to save it as a photoshop file or a jpg.

Every time you save a file as JPG it throws some information away, so you should never open a JPG, do something, then save it again. My workflow is open the RAW, manipulate it, save it as a photoshop document, then save a copy as JPG. If I need to make more changes I work on the photoshop document and save over the old jpg.

You can't ever alter a raw/dng file, so no need to worry about that.

If you want to learn all about RAW read this book. It doesn't matter if you're not using CS2, it has a lot of general theory that is useful to anyone working with RAW.
