Okay, recently I went to South Africa for a holiday (December just gone) and was shooting with a sigma 120-300 f2.8 os and canon 1000d/xs at the time. In one of the game park someone else was shooting 1dx and 18-55 kit lens. He noticed I was shooting with the xs and then started to give me ****, I ignored him and continued shooting. Eventually he moved off but I couldn't help but laugh at him. Has this happened to you?

Canon 7D, Canon 100mm L F2.8, Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 OS, Sigma 50mm F1.4, Canon 430 ex II, Sigma 2x teleconverter, Kenko extension tubes, Vello flash cord And a few bits and peices and a Yashica 635!!!

No I have never been to South Africa...

But more seriously I have had people approach me and tell me why I should have bought the 5DIII instead of the 6D but nothing more major than that. Also someone correct me if I am wrong but I didn't think there was an 18-55 that would work on a full frame like the 1DX? I am thinking you misidentified the lens.

I'm frequently around others shooting with everything from rebels to 1DXs, and with glass from cheap 70-300's up to 800mm L lenses, and have never heard anyone give or get **** because of their gear.

What??? Are you still using a Canon 1000d/xs? OMG!!! :)

Well, do you care? With all the Canons I have, when I want to time and want to really enjoy manual lenses, I use my Pentax K5 with my 1950's Super Takumars.

It's not a photo until you print it!

No, nothing funny has ever happened to me, but there are some good stories here.

Who cares !!!! I could care less what other people think of my gear or what I use or how I use it. What is important is you are happy with what you get.

I'll always try to find something nice to say to a fellow photog - even if they are shooting with a fully auto point and shoot. I've done this recently.

A lady was shooting in a park and I was there too and she said she wished she could afford the gear I had. I said thanks, but made the point that her gear was nice and light and could be thrown in her back pocket while mine was heavy and meant I had to have a special bag etc. Basically told her the limitations of my gear over hers in that specific situation so she went away feeling good and not deflated.

This story sounds pretty fake to me.

Surely a fake story would be more interesting.

Last fall I was shooting at a local park and someone mistook me for a photographer simply because I had a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 OS HSM mounted on a 60D. I explained that, "No, photographers get paid. I just take pictures."
