I'm normally don't do alot of people photography but recently I've gotten interested in building a portable studio. This was a quick shot taken of my wife and cat. Three lights were used, the main light to camera left and above the subject, the fill light was on the camera and a small slave was on camera right. I'm just looking for construtive criticism of the lighting and PS work.
For the PS work I selectively blurred the skin, curves and a HSM on the eyes. For some reason my images seem a tad soft, to me at least.
Any constructive criticism would be appreciated.

Pretty. Looks like a lot of natural light. What were the conditions?

I think you are off to a good start!

If it were me I would have moved her away from the backdrop. Also, I would try to wait for the cat to look at the camera, or get them both looking away. Either at each other, or a common point.

If there was no choice (like with my son most of the time) I'll get my wife to look at the camera like it is an accident she is doing so. Makes it seem more natural to me.

Hope this helps :)

I'ld say the fill might have been a bit weaker, and the model a bit farther from the BG to get rid of the shadow. I like the effect of an 'aura' the BG gives. Intentionally?
BTW: next time turn up the ambient light (modelling lights) to getr the pupils smaller (specially the cat's)

Nice shot of your wife. The cat looks a bit throttled.
