I see this all the time and I really do like the little scratch marks you can see on the background. Just that old vintage texture is really appealing to me. Anyone know exactly what people are doing to get it?

Hard to say on this one. It could very well be scratches on the wall in the background. But I do know what you are referring to. Google "dust and scratches photoshop brush" and see what you come up with.
