They should just disclose that the cameras were used for video reviews, they would probably go up in value. I saw a video where Kai smashed an L lens w/ a hammer and it sold for more than a working lens at auction!

ditto, its sad, but if digital rev started to sell every camera, labeled, "licked by alamby" the prices would go up and people would still buy it.

Looks pretty bad on DigitalRev but I'll admit that once contacted they actually did offer several options one of which is a full refund which I have to say is better than simply giving him the well keep it you won't ever have the option of getting your cash but here we'll give you some accessories line that most companies would feed you in this situation. I figure DigitalRev will just have to be more strict about their internal policies from now on. Personally if a camera came up for sale from them and was clearly labeled as having been used in a review I wouldn't have a problem so long as they were willing to back it up with a warranty ie anything is wrong with it for a year from purchase you guys are on the hook I say that's fair. I think it might be cool to own a camera that Kai or Lok used during a review (presuming they weren't too hard on it) and if Alamby touched it well all the better

The camera is just a tool - it is not responsible for the picture.

Not according to most commenters I've seen, there's this idiot idea that it's OK because it was DigitalRev, and they carried on about how they were fixing things once they got caught.

People everywhere making excuses for them, it's stupid beyond belief.

......
Seems to me I recall similar threads regarding B&H, Adorama, and other well known companies. These sorts of things happen to the best companies. I.....

re: Adorama; used or returned items - unless in 100% mint condition eg due to a change of mind when the item is returned clearly unopened - are sent back to the manufacturer for refurbishing, sold via our used department, sold as open box or used in our store or by our reps as demo units.

However, as the manufacturers allow retailers to return equipment as new because of over-stock situations, there is no doubt that unscrupulous or careless retailers could package up customer returns and send them back to the manufacturer as new, which could then become part of the inventory for sending out to other retailers. We can't inspect the contents of boxes that come into the Distribution Center, or they become 'open box'

If the manufacturer doesn't check equipment before sending it back out, from the customer perspective it is the retailer who looks bad, even though it may well have not been their fault.
