===============
It was a good run folks. I just purchased a 7d so my tried and true t2i will now be serving backup duty. I'll still be visiting and posting in this thread however. Here is another one from today with the t2i.

Great shot! Out of curiosity, what made you get a 7D instead of going FF?

It was mainly because the 7D offered me the AF and FPS performance I was after. All of the other "modern" canon cameras that offer this feature set are far more expensive (think 1dmkiv and 1dx). The money I saved also allowed me to purchase a 400mm lens :) Now I won't be limited to 200mm of my 70-200 anymore, though ironically that's all I have been shooting with up until now, including the last couple of shots I posted. Cheers! :cool:

in addition to Roger.. if I ever get anywhere started with sports photography like I want to ... I will also be going to a 7d. I havent been following anything lately but I need the finer burst rate (not to shoot like crazy and choose the best)... and some of the other features..

I may even go 5d mark iii or i just saw the new 6d in best buy... a FF for $1400!!!!! so i have to do some searching when the time comes...

but 7d is still the true top end Crop (in my opinion)...

so onto pg 5. .maybe ill get my camera out and take the dust off.. this weekend went to the circus and left my camera home... been doing that a lot lately.. and i was only 10 rows from the stage... :confused:

Someone once hinted to me about a 1dMkIII over a 7D and I have not been disappointed and 7D folk appear envious.

of course i sent it off for cleaning and am having withdrawls today.

T2i is a fun little camera thou and I still use it in combo with the 1d mkiii

That makes sense then, if you're shooting with telephotos and doing shots like the one you've posted then I can see why you would prefer a 7D over a FF :)

Like with Roger I think for sports it would be good for you. For me I never do sports or any kind of action shots that require really fast AF so once I upgrade it will definitely be to FF, most likely the 6D since I doubt I could afford the 5D3!

I find the 550D to be a great body and with good glass you can really produce great images, the high ISO performance is obviously nothing compared to the 6D but I've still managed to get usable shots even at 3200. I see myself keeping the 550D for at least another year or two :D

Yeah, I think the T2i is a great companion to the 1D3. I like having different sensors to work with. IQ from the 1D3 still amazes me, along with just about everything else.

My daughter has taken more interest in the T2i and so by end of year or spring of next i am thinking I will have a 5d iii ... although i do love the 1 body.

Have to get some glass before then..... oh and learn a ton more.
