All four from College Moor, the first three are the same place on the first run and the last one is a different place on the second run.
I'm a bit unconvinced by these for some reason, something's putting me off them and I'm not sure what.

#1 - Nice Group B Mazda.

#2 - A more landscapey shot but I don't think it works too well with so little being kicked up from the back of the car, it'd be better on a dry day (to provide some dust) or perhaps with a bright coloured car to make it more prominent. It doesn't really catch your eye enough as it is.

#3 - Bit of suspension travel.

#4 - Playing with panning on the inside of a hairpin, though I was too far round and very few cars were sideways anyway. Backlit by the sun so I put a bit of flash in for fill but it was probably too much for this one, I dialled it down a bit afterwards to try and get some more movement in the wheels.

I wouldn't normally "critique" anyone else's shots as it's all personal opinion at the end of the day, but picking #2 as a victim (wrong word ;) ) i reckon there's a bit too much else going on in the shot and not enough car. My eyes are drawn more to the pile of logs than anything else....it might have worked better with the snow we had in Roppa.

Having said that, they're all in focus which is more than some people seem to manage, in spite of the positive comments they get.

That's exactly what I was thinking Geoff, if it was a red or yellow car or it was artificially bigger because of a dust trail it would be much more eye-attracting. Even if it was just more front lit so it was all bright white it would be less lost in the frame. And the area on the right being very messy with all the stuff strewn around doesn't help, I'd imagine snow would have sorted that but I wonder if the shape of the road would have gotten lost then.

Shallower DoF might have helped too but it looked like the camera was misfocusing when I looked at my safety car and car 1 shots so I stopped down a bit to try and help it. It actually hadn't missed at all when I looked on the PC so I'm not sure what I saw on the camera screen.

Not sure if it helps but for some reason attention seems to be drawn immediatey to the rough ground on the right rather than to the car I think if it had been the same type of ground cover as to the left of the car then the focus would be more on the car.

Really like #3, I do like rear end shots...

As Geoff says Darren all in focus and its nice to see people trying something new, even if works or not.

You have given me the bug now to try and do a shot like your #2 in 2013.. Thank you

Alan

Cheers Alan
