There's another buzz again here in Vancouver. The first one was the Brambling from Russia, and the second was the unexpected visit by a Red-flanked Bluetail from Asia. The Red-flanked Bluetail was a first here in Canada.

Then this Gyrfalcon who have been hunting pigeons the last few weeks.

#1 Spot where the Gyrfalcon is :)

Very cool shots. I like how you captured the bird woking against the grain, nothing improves impact like a well-planned collision.

Very neat shots, Jo. It's also interesting how the falcon looks to be about the same size as the pigeons.

Thanks Al, I was hoping he catches one but these pigeons are very fast fliers :)

Thanks Steve, I was kinda fearing that, instead of catching one it might knock him down :)

Thanks Ian, it does look they are about the same size. But this falcon is certainly big, I watched it perch on a tree and a crow landed very close and bugging him and the crow was just half the size.

The heavy crops show how well you've taken these to start with Jo. A fine series and a great result :)
