Every time I look at that first picture I actually laugh out loud. Great shots and my head is swimming after reading all that went into it. Holy moly! That action you recorded sounds great, though. I'm going to read this again when I have a bit of time and see if I can figure out how to do it myself.

Great shots Richard, was that with the 50mm 1.4 from last night?
Dan

Well, those were just test shots with the 50mm (sanity check trying to focus at closest range so I could compare against my POS 1.8 ) so I dressed one up for you... More PS than I normally do, but the test shot was rather boring.

Had some fun with a little cross processing curve.

Not bad Dan. The focusing alone blows the socks of my 50 1.8. Trade ya?

To clarify, Dan didn't seem to happy with the sharpness of those last 2 images.
Remember that these were taken AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to Tyler. With my 50 1.8, I have NEVER had results this nice. It seems to fall apart at those closest extremes.

Sure they're not razor sharp (up to Dan's sharpaholic standards) yet I'm very impressed. The shots I took from a couple steps back were very sharp.

I have some cute models too, but they are older now. Didn't have the time or energy to take close up shots then. I feel bad about it. But seeing your cute little one, I remember why I bought all this new equipment. Keep taking pictures, everyday. You won't regret it.
