I am still very new to portrait photography having done my 5th shoot (3rd with flash) yesterday.

I went back to a shot as I felt I could maybe do a little better now I know more. Anyway.

Noobie mistakes happend, I overcooked a light and it made a quite large hotspot. Most people seemed to like the composition etc. so I decided to keep it.

I went back to it to "fix" the hotspot and make it look more natural.

Any C&C would be lovely as I have still much growing to do having only had my 5th shoot today.

Your images don't show, and when I click the image to go to see the image, that doesn't work either, I get the message, "This is not the page you're looking for." You may see them, but I can't, maybe it's something that you can fix. :)

The first two are pretty good, but the third on is really excellent.

Third shot is very good. First two the skin is way over done. Looks like a wax figure. The second one she even appears to have a beard shadow on her cheeks and the detail around her nose is gone. Makes her nose sort of disappear into her face.

The re-edit looks much better, always nice to see how much you have improved with time.

Really like the third shot as well.

Jonathan - for the girl, agree with comments above re: over-processing....you have lost the modelling light defining her features (look at her nose esp.)
The last image looks gray/lacking contrast...here is a quick edit using levels only:
