#3 for the emergence from the ground, and #4 for the head detail.

I had one of these guys for a little over a year before he mysteriously passed literally overnight. I am not certain of the exact species, but he was bought as a "Giant Vietnamese Centipede." He was a solid 7" in length as well. I was never able to get a shot of him that I was really proud of. You did an EXCELLENT job of controlling the light/reflections. And yes, I can fully back you up in saying that they NEVER sit still (unless they are hidden under bark...).

I never dared to hold mine. I'll do scorpions, tarantulas and most anything else, but centipedes seem too flighty to be trusted. :)

Thanks! Sorry to hear that yours died. :( It was for sure the most challenging subject I've had yet. Without the "centipede moat", it would of been nearly impossible to get a decent shot. Even-so, it almost always ran around the edge making those "poses" bad because the lid would be in frame. It really was quite frustrating to photograph!

I don't hold it much, but when I do I'm always on edge. :lol:
