Is there no way to enforce the rule against deleting prices?

All I'm trying to do is figure out what the fair market value is for some of the items I want to sell... it would help if I knew what some recent 7Ds and 70-200s were sold for, so that I could price accordingly. There are some and I can figure a price point with those to start negotiations... but don't we have a rule here? Just a bit tired clicking threads and finding that members have deleted the listed price.

Poke around EBay, you get your pricing info there easily.

We do have a rule about that here. We rely on your reports where it's been violated so we know who to tell to replace the deleted information (not just the price - any of the sale info!).

I knew there was a rule about it, but I didn't know we could report it to the mods so they could have the user re-list all the info. I think that's a great rule set in place for the very reason the OP stated. Thanks!

Thanks, Jon. I knew the rule, which was why I was wondering about enforcement. I know other rules are enforced through active moderation (moderators identifying the violation). This rule seems to be broken rampantly, but I don't know if mods are enforcing it. Then, if it is enforced - is the member required to go back to the post and put the price back in? What happens if he does not?

eBay is a different market with a lot more potential buyers. I'd rather not sell in that market. I'm assuming that there are at least a few POTN members who might pay a little more knowing the seller is a fellow photographer who's tried to take proper care of his equipment.

Like any other rule here - if the Mods have to tell you you broke it, you're in trouble. In this specific case, we tell the offender to notify us when he's corrected the "error". Regardless, the blot remains on his reputation (if we see someone bollixed something up to the point we need to act (even deleting a post), it goes on their permanent record). We catch you too many times and you'll be history.

So we shouldn't be trigger shy in reporting violations?

OMG, I'm back in public school and the public job sector where they used to threaten you. That big deep voice from the dean's office in your head: that's going on your permanent record. Designed to send chills down your spine.

Hmm, think I'll consider making a FOIL request to view that PERMANENT RECORD

I'm actually from North Carolina and I'm not a baseball fan. I just don't care about the Yankees.
