Got some nasty chromatic aberration on my new 50 1.4 lens

I'm trying with DPP, and I got no results, is it that the software is not fully compatible with my iMac, the rest of DPP works fine, but when I activate CA, nothing happens, both with DPP and LR4 grrrrrrrrrrrrr

For the record, the 50 f/1.2L isn't any better wide open:

Wide primes often suffer CA. The 85s are no better - in fact, the 85/1.8 is much worse than the 50/1.4. You'll just have to live with it.

The 28mm 1.8 also gets a bad rap for this. It looks like it's easy to correct.

So far I have Lightroom and DPP and can't get the damn software to fix it, I can do anything, but when I click on CA slides to fix it, or just turn it on, it does sweet nothing.

Got to see what is the problem!

The Canon 50mm f/1.4 is known for its Axial CA. It's something we have to live with...

Sega62 - Here's a link to fixing CA in LR4 with this lens. I've the same 50mm F1.4 and it LR4.3 and it works for me everytime.

Yep looks no different from mine either. I don't use it outdoors anymore, it's purely an indoor lens and only for very specific use cases. I got the 17-55 and it has pretty much replaced any need for the 50 1.4...

<rant> This is a fast lens . . . . what does everyone expect? The internet is a weird place. Everyone expects perfection. The 50mm f/1.4 is probably similar to the 50mm f/1.2L, the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 or Nikon's 50mm f/1.4 in this regard.

It's a good lens for the price. If you want better CA performance, stop down!

If you shoot in JPEG the 6D has in camera CA correction for Canon lenses, and reports are it works great.

this is a joke, right?

In my spare time, I've been reading the Manual on the T4i. I see it also has the built in CA Correction. I even popped on my favorite lens and it is listed in the Camera's menu. When I get the lens repaired, I'll have to check out this feature more.
