Hi All,

I use Lightroom 3 to process my RAW files and was just wondering if there was a standard export template you guys would use when saving your files for printing in term s of resolution. I have export templates set up to save for the web etc but find the printing side of things rather confusing.

Thanks,

Matt

What is confusing about the "printing side of things"?

In terms of resolution compared to the set up for the web...

300 ppi is generally considered the best resolution for files exported to be sent to a commercial lab because most print machines (such as the ubiquitous Fuji Frontier) require an input of 300 ppi and the lab's workflow therefore starts with resampling to that resoulution. Lr's resampling + output sharpening routine will probably do a better job.

BTW, your 'save for web' preset should have ppi set in the range 72-150 because the ppi affects the output sharpening (which should be set, of course, to Screen) and that setting will optimize the Screen sharpening because most monitors today are roughly 100 ppi.
