I walked all the way through checkout (stopped short of buying) and it kept the price at the lower sale price all the way through. Are you saying it changes once I commit to buy?

it will give you an error and tell you there is a problem with items if you submit it. this happened to me last refurb sale. i had a 70-200ii in my cart from a few days prior. i was ecstatic until i clicked submit order, and then i was heart broken.

Do you guys know if all lens from Canon Refurb is this year's date code? I recently got a 5dm3 from them and it was practically brand new, so I was wondering if the lens were in the same conditioning. Just curious.

not necessarily. it could be 2011, 2012 or no date code. the physical condition will likely be brand new, but the date of manufacture can vary

Never can tell. Sometimes they seem to come every other week, other times there will be a couple months between them.

3-5 months usually but that's not set in stone. They sometimes happen sooner. Last year there was one at the end of June. Another in September. That'd fit after this one (end of Feb). There was one sometime in the middle of June though; that's when I got my 17-40.

I think that you pretty much have to buy refurbished gear from Canon Direct only when they have these 20%-30% sales. And I think Canon knows it too -- they have these sales to clear out inventories, and after the sales (as now), there are very few items in stock.

What I am saying is that checking their refurbished inventory is a good way to predict when these sales will happen. CanonPriceWatch (external link) would be a good place to check also.

BTW, there was one last November also.
