Ok guys need some help here. So basically in your opinion which one works better, monochrome or color? and why? Also any suggestions/criticism concerning lighting, composition, contrast.
Thanks

For me, I like the monochrome, it just appeals to me, and this is an older camera, so it's kind of nostalgic in a way, maybe...

What I see is pretty good, but, one of the things that you might want to try is bouncing a flash, or available light onto the camera to bring out the really dark areas in the shadows. The image itself 'may be' slightly underexposed, it's not bad at all though.
It's solid black in most of the dark places, you can lighten that up by placing a foamcore board (that's what I use a lot to try and reflect light into dark places) or a white piece of paper even to help fill that area in. It may take a little trial and error, but you'll get the hang of it (if you don't already know this) and it'll get a lot easier down the road.
You can also use flashes too, I just don't know what you have available to you.

Aside from that, you did really well, the reflection is a good one, and the highlights and mid-tones are also pretty good.

I would normally say the monochrome version, but the brownish color of the table surface really looks good. Color for me. A different table? B&W.

I love the color version, the camera has great B/W tones so it's like getting a 2 for 1 deal! :D

+1 The color in the table top is great. Why hide it with B&W?

It's essentially got a monochromatic palette. Monochrome, the brown and the violet just look weird.

The color version helps the table to separate visually from the camera itself.
