A want to buy a zoom for wildlife / sports like skiing etc. Advice seems to centre around these lenses. I have no real problem spending the top end providing it will do the job. Are all lenses the same user friendly for a new user or would I be better with one rather than the other. What are the advantages / disadvantages of the three?

Sports demands a fast lens capable of stopping action. For wildlife, focal length is probably going to be somewhat more important.

True. However, if I had to do it over again, I'd probably get the Bigma instead of the 100-400. The extra 100mm would be nice, and I rarely use the IS.
