I'm going through all of my pictures from the 2012 season because I'm making a book for the whale watch line I go out with. Here are some pics of an energetic little calf that we saw on 7/1/12. This calf's mother is a whale known as Reaper. We found them very late in our trip after a very slow day. Needless to say this little whale saved our day!

Oh heavens no. I don't even use that lens anymore. LOL These were taken with the 55-250 on my T3i. I LOVE this combo!

Nice series. Those youngsters can be quite energetic and put on a really fun show.

Very nice series, looks as if this calf made your day, good that you were able to capture him so well.

Very nice set & lucky you to see them regularly. to date (and I'm old) I've never had the pleasure of seeing a whale & I've lived near the ocean as a child, visited it many times, and dive.

Seems like you get a lot closer to them than we do. Or you are faster with your camera when they come up close to the boat;) Nice series, Mandy.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Thanks everyone! :) I'll be back out on the water in May. CAN NOT wait!!!

Maureen, we're not allowed to approach the whales too closely here, but sometimes the whales approach us. This little whale was very close to us. We just sat there with the engines off watching. :)
