Decided to take pictures of another pet of mine. Finally had a nice warm day today (60f) so I took my tailless whip-scorpion outside. I also got to use my new diffuser that I made. :D You will soon realize that I don't own many "normal" pets. While I love all things creepy-crawlie, I'll be the first to admit that this girl is very creepy looking. To get an idea of her size, she would easily fill the hand of an adult person. ;)

Please let me know which one you prefer, thanks!

Creepy and awesome shots. This is one of those rare species I hope I do not encounter in the wild!

Last summer I traveled abroad and found one twice as big as the one pictured. That fella would fill two adult hands when held!

Awesome!

I saw your post on the "Rate the photo above you..." thread, and was seriously hoping to find more here in the Macro thread. These guys are too cool!! When I saw the face shot in the other thread, I immediately knew it was a scorpion, but had no idea which one.

I like #1 for the overall picture and scale, #2 because of the sheer awesomeness of the facial detail, but I think #3 is my favorite overall for artfully displaying this guy. I would gladly print #3 as a 16x20 and hang in on my wall. Thank you so much for sharing your fascinating pet. Now, my only question is, where can I get one???

-Brandon

Thanks!

Technically, they are not scorpions....that's just what everybody calls them (amblypigids). Despite their appearance, they are very shy, and not aggressive one bit. ;) And you can get them here: http://www.kenthebugguy.com …-scorpion-vinegaroon.html (external link)

Though not technically a scorpion, the facial features (eyes, chelicerae, and the pedipalps to some extent) are undeniably similar. Very cool creature.

Thank you for the site. I see several new creatures in my future...

Regards,
-Brandon

She is very cool! I've been wanting one for a while. I too don't have any "normal" pets.
