These are some of the shots I have of the comet passing by our way at the moment.

1. Feb 6. Just starting to show a bit of a tail.
Sigma 500mm f/4.5 lens on 40D. 130 x 30sec iso800.

2. Feb 10. Star(comet) trail. You can see the comet moving slightly in relation to the stars. In the time it took to do the star trail, it had moved about 3/4 the distance from here to the moon.
350D Samyang 85mm f/1.4. 223 x 30 sec ISO200

3. Feb 11. Down to a 300mm (Tamron SP f/2.8) lens now and the comet has a well formed tail, showing some detail.

4. Feb 14. Tail is getting quite long (but still faint) as it passes the Small Magellanic Cloud and the globular cluster, 47 Tucanae.

Then it got cloudy and now the moon is out so it's all washed out. Hopefully I can add to it.

Steve.

Some great images there Steve! Looks like we are going to be clouded out for the rest of this week in Brisbane, but hopefully there will be enough clear sky next weekend to capture Lemmon and PANSTARRS together.

Cheers,
Stephen

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic and the last one, is also fantastic. You guys sure are capturing some nice photons! Love how the stars are motion blurred when tracking the comet, and how it glows in the star trail and how it streaks across the sky ... can't wait to try and trap this one! Surely with images like this Steve, you don't mind taking some of our clouds here in Sydney? ;)
