Northen Hawk Owl

This is a rarely seen bird here in Denmark, it´s only seen 7 times in the past seven year.
The pictures is taken with 1dmk2 and Sigma 500mm f/4.5 ex.

nice capture of a rare bird, looks like the insertion of the pole made it scream though ;)

These same birds are visiting our area this winter. They do seem to like to perch right on the top of branches, poles, whatever...I have seen one in our area 4 times this winter and they are an amazing looking bird. Nice capture and thanks for posting it.

As gary mentioned; this type of Owl (An infrequent visitor) has come to our area. I; on the other hand have yet to see this bird. :evil:
