Well, I realize when you visit a website or do a google search or buy something from Amazon, they've got your number, your name, your email, and probably your first born's birthdate.

It's getting a bit ridiculous. I'm not a very private person, but this targeted advertising is getting a bit much.

I purchased a dropcam surveillance camera about a month ago at dropcam.com. I like it. It does what I wanted it to do. I've considered buying a second one.

But every website I go to, everything I open, lo and behold, there's the dropcam advertisement. And it seems to be the case with no matter what I buy.

I realize the companies have to make money, and believe me I'm one of the biggest consumers around, spending money like it grows on trees. But even for me it's a bit intrusive and sickening already.

Probably nothing you can do about it though.

I have the same thing... every ad is for the last search you did! Search carefully :-) hahaha

If one were to clear their browser cookies - would that do the trick for the immediate?

I made the mistake recently of clearing my browser cookies on my ipad. Every website I went to I needed to reenter my password(s). That was not a pleasant experience as I can barely remember them.

Even after clearing my browser, I was seeing targeted ads. I then learned that google, chrome and google saves your browsing and search history in their cloud, so as long as I am signed in, regardless of device, it is targeting sales at me.

Use Firefox and Adblock Edge to eliminate the adds. Then use ccleaner to clear your cookies. You can put the cookies you want to keep in a protected folder. Things like your login for POTN... I tend to do it once a week or so.

My worst nightmare is iphone.
After being a dedicated Android person, iphone 5 deceived me and WHAT A REGRET.
So much information about me is stored with them.
Did I say I hate IPHONE...

Between Firefox, Adblock Plus, NoScript, Adds No More, Ghostery, Better Privacy, and Self Destructing Cookies; I can't think of the last time I even saw an add on a website.

Sadly your ISP still captures packets to and fro while serving them up to the NSA around the clock.
