Looks like PocketWizard will have new $99 base model PLUS X transceivers released in a few days -

What do you think, is $99 low enough to entice you into the PocketWizard system?

Or alternatively worth saving the $50 extra you would pay for the PLUS III with full group function and repeater mode etc?

Definitely worth waiting to see the full specs, but you may have to wait a few weeks more at least to get your hands on them. That's if the previous Plus III release etc were anything to go by.

I sold my original versions. Why?

1. Elinchrom skyportts for my 600RX's and Quadra's.

2. Wireless built into my 600 EX's.

Just no need for them, at least for me.

Well that's the other thing, provided these do all that Plus II offer, and hopefully in a more convenient package without the big antenna, it will push the Plus II prices down to a more affordable level again.

Just bought the Mini TT1 and Power ST4 System for my Elinchrom Ranger system and it rocks. This might be a good option to allow me to add some speedlights to the mix and still be able to use the Mini, Coolio... Thanks for the heads up I was ready to buy the Flex TT5's for more money...

They have to come out with something less expensive. Ton's of competition, Canon has RT now - Nikon, Yongnuo and others are on the doorstep.

Still too much IMHO. PW said it themselves: there are better alternatives for less, plain and simple. These units are still too much at $200 a pair. I’ll likely pick up the YN-622c transceivers with eTTL, HSS, Hypersync, eTTL ratio control over groups and more... It's a no brainer. China was nipping at the ankles of PW a couple years ago; now they've taken a chunk right out of their Achilles' tendon. Yongnuo has now proven they can make quality products for so much less that it has eliminated the fear in going this route. Just my 2 cents!

Awesome deal. Im gonna get a couple of these. I like the Plus II's and have 3 but when outside the flash sensors wont p/u the flash on the strobes. So its nice to hook up extra lights and be able to trigger. I guess the big question is how far can you get before they wont trigger.
