I own a couple 5D2's and want to invest in a radio ETTL system. After thoroughly googling the subject,so far the only conclusive points I've found regarding compatibility between the 5D2 and 600EX-RT are:

- Normal flash sync and HSS is diminished at worst and iffy at best (at 1/200 and up)
- Wireless group mode not possible

Considering that I want to invest in a studio strobe down the line which could be triggered by the PocketWizards, and the compatibility issues with the Canon flash system, I'm about to pick up the PocketWizards.

Just wondering if anyone had any last minute info or reasoning that might compel me to go with the 600EX-RT.

A tough call because your camera is pre 2012. I have a 5D3, sold all the old flash gear and went RT. Just got my 3rd 600 yesterday. If I were going strictly studio I would not even think twice about going with strobes. I would love a permanent studio set up but my is my house is too small so I opted for the two prong approach. STE3 and 3 600's which can be used for portable studio and run and gun shooting. If I had the size and money I would have both set ups. OK, I'll be honest. If I had room I would have found the money.

Here is a page out of the manual.
