A weather sealed 50mm, with 3-4 stops of IN camera stabilization.... its pretty sexy.

Their new 55mm 1.4 is gonna retail at $4,000.

Supposed to be the best fast 50ish lens ever made.

Interesting, as a substitute for medium format.

But a totally meaningless sales pitch of a title.

Best in what way? It's hard to quantify "best" with any lens, sure you can measure ISO charts for sharpness, line test for distortion, and every other pixel peeping possibility but what about unquantifiable things like color 'draw' or the way it renders bokeh. Then you factor in things like price, mechicanal qualities, feel, and verious other undefinables and there really is no "best" of any lens, just certain (un)desirable traits.

Otherwise people wouldn't tirelessly go back and forth deciding what to own, most here would get the "best" if there was such a thing.

Have you held an A99? Not exactly what I'd call "chunky".
