I saw a video from Scott Kelby's Youtube channel about Smugmug and Squarespace integration and thought, hmm what's this Squarespace all about.

I head on over, sign up for a 14 day free trial and start building.

I instantly love the templates and seem to suit what I have been hoping 500px would offer with regards to portfolio template design, however, it doesn't support meta-tagging of your photos. Whether that's use full or not is something i'll need to see.

Has anyone else used Squarespace and have any pros or cons to using it?

Thanks,

Paul

Incidentally, this is what i've come up with so far.

I'm seriously considering replacing my website (that I created on my own) to this. It uses lightbox for the galleries if you need it. You can sell images too. My only negative thing to say about it, is that, it's fairly limited in its templates to choose from.

Some are really slow loading, and don't even display the content but I think this system is just new.

Looks good. Better than what I've seen on SmugMug without paying for customization.

One idea: Seems like it would be nice if the nav bar would go away when you scroll through photos and come back after you stop for a while.

That would be cool. One other thing i've noticed is that it doesnt like it when you use images that are portrait on any of the templates.

That looks really nice. Not working well with portrait is a pretty big problem, though. Also, I can right-click save your images as 1500x1000. I'm hoping you set it that way.

Thanks for letting me know. I put in this little bit of code I had on my last site. This squarespace is so flexible.

<script language=JavaScript> var message="Function Disabled!"; function clickIE4(){ if (event.button==2){ alert(message); return false; } } function clickNS4(e){ if (document.layers||document.getElementById&&!document.all){ if (e.which==2||e.which==3){ alert(message); return false; } } } if (document.layers){ document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN); document.onmousedown=clickNS4; } else if (document.all&&!document.getElementById){ document.onmousedown=clickIE4; } document.oncontextmenu=new Function("alert(message);return false") </script>
