Jun 15, 2016 17:32 | #1007 smythie wrote in post #18040457 Amazing attention to detail. Are you going to be connecting the microphone in the chest area to the helmet wirelessly? No. There will be a single multi-core wire coming up out of the torso to the neck with a jack on the end for the helmet to plug into. This will supply power to the helmet. The speakers will have no electronics in the helmet, basically like headphones. All that stuff will be in the chest, with a single feed up into the helmet, so there's no unnecessary tech in the helmet adding weight and taking up room. Jun 19, 2016 08:52 | #1010 In yet another attempt to solve the inflexible gauntlets problem, I am revisiting the EVA foam option, this time using contact adhesive to wrap it in metallic stretch fabric. Builds By Baz website http://www.buildsbybaz.com

Jun 21, 2016 08:14 | #1013 Placing a microswitch in the power line for the eye lights, the faceplate presses down on it when it closes. All that's left on the lights is to hook up the dimmer switch that is already installed under the chin and put in a resistor for indoor/outdoor brightness settings. Jun 22, 2016 09:37 | #1014 EVA foam gloves wrapped in metallic lycra. Seems to be working well. Thumb has full movement and the soft option will be a lot safer for the hospital kids. Builds By Baz website http://www.buildsbybaz.com

dodgyexposure Goldmember More info | Jun 22, 2016 18:09 | #1016 The hands look good. I must have missed something, though - I swear that you were building steel gauntlets about 20 pages ago - did that not work out? Cheers, Damien

Snydremark wrote in post #18047345 Couldn't hold/grip anything with 'em, IIRC Exactly. Looked good, but in the real world I need to be able to pick things up, open doors etc. Couldn't get finger to touch thumb or anything. These gloves give me back my dexterity and are a bit safer for the kids anyway. I'm making the next glove slightly different. Instead of all the pepakura unfold patterns creating a lot of seams and glue-lines, I cut the glove in half, flattened it out then traced it onto fresh 2mm foam. The glove is now one-piece with the details glued on the outside, then wrapped in metallic lycra. Builds By Baz website http://www.buildsbybaz.com

Nathan Can you repeat the question, please? More info | Jun 23, 2016 13:17 | #1020 When this is all done, what is it that you will be most proud of on this build? It's kinda funny, but I know that when I complete a project I'm usually proud of something very, very minor. For example, the fireplace that I'm building... I got really excited about one particular miter cut I made on the ledgestone... it was the best cut out of all. What's your proudest feature on this Ironman build so far? Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.
