Nice shot. Did you take that near the Silver Slipper? If so, he's probably the one that lives in the woods behind Bob's Crabs (which is right behind the Slipper). I've got a few shots of him (or her) myself. I've never been able to get that close to it. I don't want to jack your thread, so I'll leave links to my shots.

Great photo. I am also jealous of your new lense. That thing is a beast. What do you use for your Macro shooting?

Thank you very much. I use a 100mm canon macro lens, not the L series, for my macro shots... Sometimes ill a throw an extension tube on it although i dont really find they help much...

lol... yup, that is where i got this one. although i gotta tell there is more than this one out there. Nice eagle shots... Just got back from waveland a little while ago, i saw 4-5 eagles ( might have been the same one over and over) but as soon as i got the camera out it flew off. Just before i left i saw him one last time and he let me get about 200 ft away but i was shooting into the sun so it didnt come out so nice... always next time right? I added you as a contact on flickr... You on facebook?

It's great to see local photogs here. I know there are a few RTHs out there, but there's one I'm always chasing that has fairly set habits. I've seen two eagles at a time; not sure how many there are in the area. The pair I usually see is said to live in Buccaneer State Park. There's another pair known to live north of town. Lately I've been cruising the dirt roads north of the casino, where I've seen a few Kingfishers (but haven't been able to get close enough to shoot). I do most of my shooting in the swampy area just east of the casino and up and down Beach Blvd. between the state park and the casino.

Thanx. Look for me when you're here. I'll be the guy with the big white lens, standing up to his ankles in the mud.:D

I like it. Focus speed takes a bit of a hit, but image quality is excellent. It's always in my camera bag.
