Carolina Wren

A few shots of one of the pair of Carolina Wrens we found in Green Bay last weekend. They wouldn't come out of the thick stuff, so there's branches in the way in most of them, but they're the first ones I've ever seen here so I photographed them anyway. My only question is...if they're crazy enough to stay in Wisconsin all winter long, does that make them Wisconsin Wrens?

I guess it would! They are some tough little guys, they look pretty healthy too. Real nice set, number two and the last ones especially, great Job!

I'd think I'd died and gone to heaven if I ever got a nice sharp bird shot. You've got great ones. Very nice.

Thank you very much Bret, glad you like them! They must be tough, we're having a rough winter but I've seen more odd off-season birds hanging around this year than ever before, I just hope they all hang on 'til spring (if it ever comes!)

Thank you very much! I feel the same way when I luck out and get one to turn out . Sometimes (not often) the birds cooperate, that helps too!

Thanks again Bret! No, these were with the 100-400L, I've had a messed up arm for the past month or so, can't handle the 300 2.8 for long enough to go birding yet. It sucks too, I missed what would've been some great eagle shots that day if I could've used the 300 & 2x mkIII!

Thank you very much Andrew! He was very cooperative, I actually binned a few shots because he was closer than the minimum focus distance on the lens.

Great shots of the wren Mike, love #2, amazing clarity and sharpness!

Terrific shots! There is a pair around my house that have been sticking it out all winter. They don't come to the feeder or the suet - except one morning when it was -15 celcius without the wind chill, I caught them on the suet, only time it has happened all winter. I hear them singing almost every morning. Haven't managed any shots like this however, nicely done.

All are nice an then the second one.
