He's using an SD770, which has a minimal focusing distance of 3cm and a 35mm lens.
Today many cameras have an even shorter macro distance of 1cm (some even 0cm)
but lenses have become wider (28mm, 24mm) making the object smaller in the image.
Any new Canon A' series or ELPH has good macro capabilites. Get one with a 28mm lens,
such as the ELPH 130, ELPH 115, A1400, A2400, A2500, A2600, A3400, A4000 or SX160.
