I think I already know my answer, but with my tax returning I had planned on adding a 1DIV to my stable.

Now I do not do this professionally its a hobby, and I already have a 5DII I use for everyday shooting.

With that said, racing season is coming up and I have a lot of races + airshows.

What say you? 1DIV plus current glass or 1DIII (if I can find a decent used one :/) 400L 5.6 combo.

Im leaning 1DIII + 400L and keep the leftover cash

I faced a similar decision but with a 7d instead of a 1diii. I picked the 7d with 400 5.6 and have regrets. Always go for the glass!

Ya I have had a 7D before. Great camera, I just recently got hooked on the 1D body and ergnomics, plus I can use an 1.4 extender with the 400 on the 1D body if needed.

But I am gonna find a good used 1DIII soon, and the 400 5.6 is already ordered! :)

As awesome ad the 1d4 is I would say the 1d3 and 400 5.6 is a better idea.

Enjoy your new setup.
