Can it be done?
I have a couple BR straps(RS-Sport,DR-1) already but I'm interested in Frankenstein-ing the Carry Speed F1 mounting plates (external link) and ball connectors (external link) to them. They sell the CS parts individually but I don't see how the ball connector can be placed on an BR RS-Strap because they don't unclick open. Any comments that can help achieve this modification?

IIRC, the Black Rapid is sewn in such a way as to make replacing the hardware impossible without re-sewing it.

Having said that, the BR is also constructed with relatively thin webbing that any home sewing machine should be able to get through pretty easily. They also don't use bartacks or box-x stitches that would be difficult to reproduce; just use heavy duty nylon thread in two, triple stitched lines and you are good to go.

I Did it . Have a br7 and then purchased a carryspeed . 1 for me & 1 4 my wife .
I likes the cs so I purchased parts from cs and then cut br7 in back then had it sewn back .. I liked the carryspeed mount system better and the mount on the plate pivots out of the way when not needed....
