thank god Feb is behind us, always the worst month for bugs in UK at least

had to look Wisconsin up (only good on SW states where I have traveled); bet it's cold up there! Half the size of England, 1/9 of our population, I envy you that plus the 160+ species of Dragonflies & Dasmselflies. We have a measly 56.

Toby, it's the winters that make the bugs strong and give us so many of them. Plus, this area is about 100 miles North of where the last glaciers stopped and began their retreat. There are valleys and rivers and streams everywhere, and ponds and lakes. Perfect breeding grounds for so many species. And the Mississippi is just a couple miles from my house. Here it is more than a mile wide, slow moving, lots of backwaters and channels. It really is mostly forest, waterways and meadows. Very primitive still.

Sounds idyllic and you can always fly down to Florida when the winter gets you down.
