Went and test out this lens today and though it takes very sharp pictures the lens mount goes on the camera body quite tight, more so than any other lenses I have ever tried. You almost have to give it a good turn to lock it. Seller says camera shop says it shouldn't affect the camera and lens mount.

Should I be worried about this?

It does fit tighter than my non-L canon lenses. Unless its so tight that it requires a significant effort to turn, it should be fine.

I would say you'll have to twist lens 2-3 times harder than other lenses. I used my buddy's 70-200 2.8 II and it mount onto the camera body just like any other lenses.

Well it's better than loose. Mine fits on OK, but has a minor rotational looseness. Probably not out of spec, but more than my other lenses and a little annoying at times. Point is that there will be some variation.

If you can live with it being tight, chances are it is good, but if you think it is going to be annoying I wouldn't bother. I'd prefer tight than loose for sure, but sometimes little things can get annoying.

I'd only check the lens mount for dents or deformation.

Snug up all the screws on the mount and the camera mount . They do back off . it doesn't take much.

My 70-200 2.8 non IS is tight but it fell on the lens mount with previous owner and was straightened but works well .

I just got one a few weeks ago and mine is tighter than any other lens I have. I think its normal for that lens.

Thanks for all the replies. I went ahead and bought the lens today. Figure with it being more snug than other lenses just means less chances of dust getting in .

Mine is the opposite. My two L lenses, 70-200 F4L IS and 400mm F5.6 are both looser on my T3i than any of my other lenses. They both rotate a small amount when attached.
