what would you choose use???

I have found in the UK reference to Lensmaster as what appears to be very good quality UK made reasonably price alternatives to the likes of Whimberley.

But my question is more about which version, accounting for the price difference to give the serious consideration to???

My current big lens is the Canon 100-400mm but looking to the future I would hire say a 500mm or when available if the hire charges are not too stratospheric the 200-400 with inbuilt x1.4TC. Usage wise ~ wildlife and airshows are the main 'bag'.

The RH1 sidekick type seems kind of odd as the lens is side-mounted and this to me looks like it puts a heck of a strain of the Arca Swiss style clamp & plate whereas the loading on the RH2 is less...............but are there really any such concerns or disadvantages using the sidekick one???

TIA for any insight & user experience of these differing types??? :D

I'm sure loads of people will reply to say their 500 works great with a side-kick-style gimbal. I, on the other hand, wouldn't trust one with that weight and, for that reason, I'd recommend you get the proper job.
