Is $500(Canadian) a good price for a 8 year old Canon 17-40 lens?
Date code is visible in a picture of the lens.
Seller describes the lens as being in mint condition, no scratches or dust in lens.
Lens comes with both end caps, hood and CPL filter.
No mention of what brand the filter is.
I'm in the market for this lens and I know that a brand new one cost basically double the price of what is being asked for this particular lens.
It seems like a good deal but, just not sure.

I haven't contacted the seller yet so, I was wondering if there are any questions I should ask them regarding the lens that isn't in the ad description.
Ad description is pretty much what I have mentioned above.

That seems a touch high - I paid $699 US for mine, brand new, on Amazon in December. No CPL but as you've noticed, you don't know what brand/quality the CPL is.

Seems like a good price to me. All the used ones I have seen, people have wanted more $ for them.

6D, 5D, 7Dii, Eos R and too many lenses, flashes and aux. gear to list!

Good price if it's in good condition and no scratch.

Seems a reasonable price... the filter might be the difference between a good deal and a great deal.

if it's a top quality filter such as a B+W MRC or Kaesemann, that alone would be worth around $115 to $136 U.S. (new) and definitely would sweeten the deal.

I'll contact the seller. They are someone local so, if the lens is still available, i'll at least be able to check the lens before buying it.
The seller indicates that they have another L lens (not for sale) so, I hope that's an indication that the CPL included in the sale, might be of a good quality as well.
Thanks for the replies.

Being local is a good thing as you'll have the opportunity to test the lens well before handing over the cash. My personal preference is for new gear so I'd probably just find a bit more and get a new one.
